Dulla – a Chinese company – has been in the external battery game for a relatively short time and offers only a select amount of powerbanks. Today, we’re going to check out a Dulla device for the first time in this Dulla M50000 12000mAh Power bank review. This gorgeous golden power bank is quite the looker, so let’s find out if it’s worthy of its classy appearance.
Design and portability
Normally, we don’t put much weight into looks of a power bank, but this Dulla M5000 definitely one-ups most other power bank brands in the looks department. The Dulla M50000 has a luxury vibe to it and comes in classy metallic colors: rose gold, black, gold and silver. The gold version in particular is very nice to look at with its smooth aluminum alloy. The Dulla M50000 is without a doubt one of the better looking power banks we’ve reviewed so far.
In terms of portability, it’s an inbetweener. It measures at 6.1 x 3.1 inch and is slightly bigger than the AmazonBasic 10000mAh Power Bank we reviewed earlier this week, but also slightly thinner with a thickness of 0.5 inch. We thought the AmazonBasics Power bank was thin, but the Dulla M50000 has now taken first place for thinnest power bank we’ve reviewed so far.
Its size is comparable to a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. And although the Dulla M50000 does fit in a big pocket, it’s better suited to carry in a handbag, purse or backpack. For the power it possesses, it’s still comparatively small though. The IOGear Gearpower GMP10K for example has a smaller power capacity, but is about 1.5 x bigger.
Features
The Dulla M50000 has dual USB outputs on top, with the input to charge the powerbank next to them. Under this input are four LED battery indicators to show how much charge is left in the powerbank. A small thing worth mentioning is that these LED’s keep flickering when it’s charging. This can be of slight inconvenience if you’re charging your devices at night.
Not surprisingly, the power bank comes with a flashlight function. While not as bright as a dedicated EDC flashlight, it’s brighter than most other power bank flashlights we’ve come across.
Last but not least, the Dulla M50000 has “Intelligent Protection Technology” as they call it. Which prevents things like short-circuiting, overvoltage, overcurrent and overcharge. The power bank will automatically turn off when done charging, so it won’t damage your device or waste any battery.
Power
The capacity of the Dulla M50000 is 12,000mAh. Enough to charge an average smartphone like an iPhone 7 four times, and a tablet like an iPad mini once and then some. For its delicate size, it sports quite a bit of power, and charges your average smartphone in about one and a half hour.
The Dulla M50000 has two USB outputs and can therefore charge two devices simultaneously. According to Dulla, these slots have an output of 1A and 2A respectively. According to other (unproven) sources, both these outputs have an amperage of 2A, which would not be a good thing. Charging your phone in a 2A output charges it quicker, but also shortens the longevity of your battery. It’s only meant for big devices like tablets. But alright, we’ll give Dulla the benefit of the doubt here and believe their claim, as they are a trusted brand in the power bank industry. But if we find out later that they’re both 2A, Dulla has got some explaining to do.
Charging the power bank to full battery takes about 7 hours. It might seem long, but compared to power banks of similar power, this is pretty average.
Conclusion
What can be said about the Dulla M50000 12,000mAh power bank that hasn’t already been said? It’s not only a beautiful device, but also boasts quite the capacity. With 12,000mAh it gives you enough power to take you through the week and give you four charges for your average smartphone. We’ve got some doubts about the amperage of both outputs, but we’re going to trust our gut feeling here and believe Dulla’s advertised specifications. The Dulla M50000 is a well rounded power bank that combines slimness, power and functionality in a great way that not only make it practical, but also one of the most stylish powerbanks on the market.
