It’s 20,000mAh week, so it’s time to review another one of these bad boys. Literally, because next up on the list is by a brand named Villain. Let’s take a look at the Villain 20000mAh Portable Charger in this review.
Design and portability
The design of the villain portable charger is pretty neat. The casing kind of looks like carbon fibre material. Which it obviously isn’t, but it looks pretty slick. The sides are chromed and give the portable charger an all-around classy look. The brand name villain is imprinted on the case in big thick letters. Overall, it’s a very stylish power bank.
I can’t really call this a small device, but hey, any power bank with this capacity is going to be big. The smallest one we’ve seen is the Anker PowerCore 20100, and even that one wasn’t exactly pocket sized. The Villain Portable Charger is slightly larger and measures 8.5 x 4.8 inches. It’s 1.3 inches thick and weighs quite a lot at 1.15 pounds. For a charger of this capacity, it’s still relatively portable, and even though it won’t fit in your pocket, it comes with a mesh pouch so you can easily slide it in your bag without having to worry about scratching it.
Features
Reading the description of the Villain Portable Charger on amazon I got the impression that it had two input ports to charge the powerbank with. One micro-USB port and a lightning port. However, it only has one input port to charge it. Not that it matters that much, it’s just a bit misleading. Or maybe I just misunderstood the description, but it clearly says:
“Dual Input modes – ioS and Android ports to help you charge through any cable”
What it does have, is two output ports. Which means you can charge two devices simultaneously. One of the ports is a 2.1A port, the other is a 1A port. It’s not clear if they’re smart ports and automatically adjust to the right amperage for your device, but they do have overcharge and short circuit protection.
A great feature that I’m a big fan of is battery percentage indicators. Coincidentally, we saw this feature yesterday on the Lumina Power Bank, and earlier on the iMuto 20000mAh Power bank. This Villain Portable Charger has the feature too. It has a bright LED screen that shows exactly how much charge is left in the tank. This is extremely useful and keeps you much better informed than a four light battery indicator would.
A nice feature on this power bank is the double led flashlight. It’s not particularly bright, but brighter than most power bank flashlights we’ve seen.
Power
The villain is a massive powerhouse with a battery capacity of 20000mAh. Normally, manufacturers exaggerate their numbers and can’t back up their claimed capacity. 20,000mAh usually comes down to about 17000mAh in most power banks. We’ve even seen a ‘20000mAh’ rated power bank with a true capacity of barely 14000Mah. However, the Villain Portable Charger has an actual capacity of 20000mAh, nothing less. I’ve only seen this once before which was on the Aukey PB-N15. It’s really refreshing to see this on a low profile brand power bank though. The Villain Portable Charger has enough capacity to charge your iPhone 6 about seven times, and an iPad mini twice. It also recharges relatively quick when it’s empty. As long as you use a 2A wall charger, it’ll only take about 12 hours. For a power bank of this capacity, that’s pretty fast. And keep in mind that you’ll probably only charge it once a week or so.
Conclusion
It’s very surprising to see such a quality device from a brand I’ve never heard of before. The Villain 20000mAh Portable Charger is not only stylish, but is extremely convenient with its battery percentage indicator and dual charging ports. Not to mention it’s massive power and 100 percent efficiency. Along with the Aukey PB-N15, this is the only 20,000mAh power bank that delivers the true battery capacity as advertised. Overall, the Villain Portable Charger is a great buy and it baffles me that it’s not more popular. Maybe people aren’t ready to turn villain yet?

I purchased your product from Amazon back in 2016.Villain® – Portable Charger 20000mAh – Dual USB Port to Charge 2 Devices Simultaneously – Ultra Slim Power Bank for iPhone, iPad Mini, Samsung Galaxy, Nexus, HTC, Tablets . I used few times. it is not working anymore but I do not have the capable to charge it . I bought a capable to charge it but it is not working. Do you think it is not working because I am using different capable or just the devise is not working anymore.

Hello Raad, I’m very sorry to hear that, but I think you have us confused a bit. We don’t sell powerbanks, we merely review them. I might be able to help you out though. If the device isn’t working with the right cable (any USB to Micro-USB cable should do), then the fault is definitely with the device itself. You can contact the Villain powerbank seller right here. Or of course apply to return the powerbank to Amazon and receive a refund/replacement, which you can do on this page.
Hope this helps a bit!
