We’ve always been huge fans of RAVPower ever since we reviewed their amazing RAVPower 22000mAh power bank, which we crowned as one of the best power banks for tablets. In this review, we’ll be taking a look at a more compact RAVPower device: the RAVPower 6700mAh Power bank.
Design and portability
The RAVPower comes in a nice small box, and is packed very nicely along with a cool mesh pouch and charging cable. Now I might say this a lot, but this power bank is really the most compact power bank i’ve held in my hands to date. It measures at 3.5 x 1.6 inches and is 0.8 inches thick. It easily fits in the palm of my hand and of course in a jeans pocket as well. It’s so lightweight for a battery it’s almost unreal. It barely weighs over 4 ounces and is by far the lightest power bank I’ve felt yet. The only downside of the compactness of this device is that it gets quite warm when charging for long periods, although not unusually hot.
The casing of the RAVPower 6700 mAh power bank is made of thick UL94V-0 grade fire-resistant material. Most of RAVPower’s devices are encased in this sturdy material and it’s a great characteristic I really love about their power banks. It feels tough enough to survive a couple of heavy impacts and feels built to last.
After reviewing dozens of power banks through the years, I have a feeling that Anker‘s and RAVPower’s power banks are made by one and the same manufacturer, or at least a similar one. They come in a near identical box and also with an identical mess pouch, feel made from the same casing material, and both possess premium LG/Panasonic battery cells. The only difference being the branding on the products. Not that it’s an issue, they’re both very reputable brands and are high-quality made.
Features
The RAVPower 6700mAh power bank has a power button on the side to indicate how much battery is left in the power bank, which is shown by four blue LED lights. The power bank has one charging port to charge mobile devices and it’s fitted with RAVPower’s iSMart technology, making the charging port a smart charging port. In short, this means the port can identify the product you’re charging and delivers the ideal current to charge it. This is to prevent overcharging and allow for fast charging speeds. It also has 5-in-1 protection features. Ranging from overheat protection to short circuit protection. All to provide you with the safest possible circumstances when charging a mobile device.
One feature that makes the RAVPower ACE 6700 stand out over other power banks, is that it was perfectly capable of charging my activity tracker (Fitbit Charge 2). Other power banks like the Anker PowerCore 10000 and the RAVPower 16750 were incapable of this task, shutting off after about 30 seconds.
It’s not equipped with the Qualcomm Quick charge function. But, at this size and price range you can’t really expect it to. Also, the max output of the port is 2.4A, which is more than enough to provide you with relatively quick charging times out of the box.
Power
The size to power ratio of this device is magnificent. For being the smallest power bank I’ve ever seen, it has an impressive battery capacity. Along with the Anker PowerCore 10000, this is in my humble opinion one of two power banks with the best size to battery capacity ratio.
With 6700mAh you’ll have just enough power to charge an average smartphone twice. An iPhone 6 can be charged twice, and bigger smartphones like a Samsung Note 4 can be charged about 1.4 times. If you want to charge a large tablet, don’t expect it to fully charge it. It’ll easily give it about 35% charge, maybe 40%, but probably not much more than that. Still, for such a small device that’s rather impressive. It also provides very quick charging times thanks to the 2.4A output. It charges my iPhone 5S in under 1 hour and 20 minutes, but keep in mind that charging times vary slightly for every smartphone model.
With an input of 2A, the RAVPower 6700mAh power bank has a great recharge rate. When empty, it can be recharged in roughly 3 hours. Which is amazing if you think about it. Most power banks at this price point have an input of 1A, and take about 7 hours to charge at least.
Conclusion
I’ve said it plenty, but RAVPower really is one of the best power bank brands in the industry, and in my opinion share the top spot alongside Anker. The RAVPower 6700mAh is made from the highest quality casing material with fire resistant shell, has an amazing size to battery capacity ratio, is fairly cheap, provides very quick charging times and, well, is there anything else you need? I didn’t think so. The RAVPower 6700mAh simply is one of the best value for money power banks for smartphones you could ever get your hands on.

Though only about 85 percent of the capacity of our previous large pick from RAVPower, the RAVPower 26800 mAh Xtreme Portable Charger, this newer pack can charge more devices faster than any other contender in our test group.
