You can't go wrong with this power bank. The RAVPower 22000 a bit large, but it has massive power, three charging ports, and excellent build quality. Not to mention it's not even expensive and has lifetime warranty.
RAVPower is one of the leading brands in the industry and usually comes out on top along with Anker in our lists of best power banks. It’s time to take a look at another RAVPower product in this review: the RAVPower 22000mAh triple slot Power Bank.
Design and Portability
A lot of 20,000mAh range power banks look very similar in design and this one is no exception. It’s only logical; the designers try to make the unit as portable as possible without sacrificing capacity. This usually results in a narrow, but long and thick device.
The RAVPower 22000mAh measures at 6.5 x 2.76 x 0.94 inches and is just a bit wider than the Anker PowerCore 20100, but smaller than the EasyAcc Monster we reviewed yesterday. It’s quite heavy but not as heavy as the iMuto 20000mAh Power Bank. It’s about the length of an iPhone 6S Plus, but narrower in width and three times as thick. A nice addition is that it comes with a cool carry pouch that makes it just a bit easier to carry with you.
One thing we really like seeing used in powerbanks is sturdy material. The RAVPower 22000mAh is very well constructed and is encased in a matte black UL94 V-0 fire-resistant shell. Simply put, this is the same material that’s used in luxury cars from Mercedes-Benz and BMW, according to RAVPower that is. It’s not that hard to believe though, the RAVPower feels incredibly sturdy. The robustness reminds of the Anker PowerCore 20100, which had a similar feel to it.
Although it’s similar in size to other power banks in its capacity range, the difference here is that the RAVPower 22000mAh has three charging ports for simultaneous charging. These account for a total current output of 5.8A, which is the highest total output we’ve seen to date on a power bank. Thanks to this high output you can even charge two tablets and a smartphone at the same time, at quick charging speeds.
All of the charging ports are smartports that make use of a technology that RAVPower calls “iSmart 2.0”. This technology adjusts the current and voltage to optimal range to minimize charging time. Similar to Anker’s “PowerIQ” and Aukey’s “AiPower” technologies.
The battery of the RAVPower 22000mAh is a lithium polymer battery, which we also saw in the Dulla M50000. Regular batteries lose charge after about 500 recharge cycles, but a lithium polymer battery is more efficient and doesn’t lose power until about 1000 recharge cycles. This durability is a great advantage and means the power bank can be used for many years.
Where this power bank really stands out is the battery capacity: a whopping 22000mAh. Now in our last review we saw that the EasyAcc Monster was advertised as a 20,000mAh power bank, but was actually more close to 14,000mAh. It’s not unusual in this industry though and many brands do this. However, the RAVPower 22000mAh seems to supply very close to its actual numbers. It has enough power to charge an iPhone 5S about seven times, and can charge an iPad mini twice and then some. It has enough juice to charge a Samsung Galaxy S7 almost five times and a Galaxy Note 7 four times. The great thing about this is that you can charge three of them simultaneously, which saves you a lot of time.
Another great advantage of the huge power output of this power bank is that it recharges relatively fast once it’s empty. It takes only 10 – 11 hours to recharge the power bank, which is amazing compared to some of its rivals that usually take more than 15 hours to charge. however, you do need a 2.4A wall charger for this, otherwise it’ll take more than 20 hours. They’re not expensive though and you can get one here on Amazon.
I can’t say I’m surprised but RAVPower delivers, like they always do. There really isn’t anything to complain about this product. You could say it’s a bit heavy, but all power banks at this level are. You could argue it has no flashlight function, but that’s just nitpicking, after all, it is just a charger. The RAVPower 22000mAh is a solid power bank, especially considering it’s price. It’s durable thanks to its quality construction and lithium polymer battery, it’s versatile thanks to the three charging ports, has a massive power capacity and output, and has lifetime warranty! The RAVPower 22000mAh is one of the best power banks I’ve reviewed and I would rank it next to Anker’s PowerCore 20100 for best power bank for tablets. Well, in fact, I think I’d rank this one even a little higher.
