EasyAcc offers some nice portable chargers for reasonable prices. The EasyAcc Metal 6400 mAh is one of the cheapest 6000 mAh range portable chargers we’ve ever come across. Let’s take a look if there’s a reason why it’s so cheap or if it’s actually a quality bang for your buck.
Design and portability
Let’s make one thing clear first. Obviously, it’s not made out of metal as the name might have you think. It does however have a very nice metallic coating finish that gives it a nice stylish look. It’s one of the smallest power banks we’ve seen to date and measures at 3.86 x 1.65 x 0.87 inch. Even though it’s still a bit thick, it’s definitely compact enough to carry around in your front or back pocket as it’s smaller than any smartphone.
The EasyAcc 6400 mAh comes in 3 colors: metallic blue with white, black with white, and red with black. Which one you prefer is a matter of taste, I like the red with black version a lot as it has a luxury vibe to it.
Features
Both the power button and USB output are on the top side of the powerbank, as is the micro USB input to charge the powerbank itself. We’ve gotten a bit used to seeing a flashlight on power banks, but the EasyAcc is not equipped with one. Not that it matters of course as it’s just a power bank, but if you were looking for a portable charger with flashlight function this isn’t the option for you.
On the side of the charger are 5 LED battery indicators to show how much charge is left. It also has integrated safety measures to protect your device from overcharging and damaging the battery. For such an inexpensive charger, it’s nice to see that it’s equipped with these most crucial features and left out the less important ones like a flashlight.
The Smart Technology in the EasyAcc apparently detects what kind of device is being charged and chooses the fastest charging current accordingly. However, how much time is saved here is questionable as it might just be a matter of minutes.
The charger comes with a micro USB cable to charge the powerbank but not with an AC adapter. A few users have experienced the USB connection becoming flaky after months of use, so the cable quality seems to be hit or miss with this device.
Power
While not a powerhouse, the EasyAcc PB6400MT2 has a pretty big capacity for the price you’re paying. 6400 mAh is enough to charge an average smartphone twice and bigger smartphones 1 – 1.5 times. EasyAcc claims it to have enough capacity to charge an iPhone 6 2.5 times. However, an iPhone 6 has a battery capacity of 2915 mAh, so even with 100% efficiency it would only have enough to charge it 2.2 times. But alright, let’s not nitpick here as it’s such an inexpensive charger anyway.
The Charge output has an amperage of 2.4A. This is strong enough to charge about any medium and below sized device like headphones, smartwatches, tablets and – of course – smartphones. Keep in mind that a capacity of 6400 mAh is a bit on the low side to charge a tablet. It’s recommended to get a powerbank with at least 7500mAh to charge tablets.
The 2.4A outlet also makes it so it charges quite quick. It doesn’t take longer than 2 hours to fully charge an average smartphone and if the power bank itself runs out of charge, it takes about 3.5 hours to charge with the micro USB cable. There’s no AC adapter included with the powerbank though, so if you don’t have one you’re stuck charging it via PC or laptop which takes quite a bit longer.
Conclusion
The EasyAcc Metal 6400 mAh PB6400MT2 might not be of top notch quality, but all in all, for the price you’re paying it’s a very decent power bank and it does the job like it should. It’s compact, portable and provides you with one or 2 extra charges for your phone whenever you want.
